Product Overview

The ISOTEX Reciprocating Grate Thermic Fluid Heater combines our proven thermal oil heating design with a multi-stage reciprocating grate — a continuously moving, sloped grate that carries fuel through distinct drying, combustion, and burnout zones. This gives plants reliable, low-pressure process heat even when running high-moisture, mixed, or difficult-to-burn biomass that conventional fixed or fluidized systems can’t handle consistently.

The multi-stage zoning is the defining advantage of this design. Fuel is dried before it reaches the combustion zone, then burnt out completely before ash discharge — giving more complete combustion and stable operation than a single-stage grate, even on variable-quality agro-waste.

Automated fuel feeding and ash discharge, synchronised with grate reciprocation speed, reduce manual intervention and keep output steady across long production runs.

Fuel Options - Multi-Capability

The Reciprocating Grate Thermic Fluid Heater is purpose-built for biomass and agro-waste fuel that varies in moisture, size, and calorific value — the exact conditions where fixed-grate and fluidized bed systems lose combustion stability.

Primary Gas Fuel Options
Loose Biomass

Wood chips, husk, straw, and agro-residue. Multi-stage zones allow wet fuel to dry before ignition, preventing flame-out that would stall a single-stage grate.

Densified Biomass

Briquettes and pellets. Even bed movement keeps combustion stable despite fuel-size variation, giving predictable, consistent output.

Mixed / Blended Fuel

Combinations of two or more agro-waste streams. Grate speed and air zoning can be tuned to the specific blend’s characteristics.

High-Moisture Fuel

Rice straw, green wood waste, cotton stalk ,plam fiber ,bagasse and wet husk. A dedicated drying zone ahead of the combustion zone maintains flame stability where other systems would fail.

Fuel Feeding System

Sloped, ladder-shaped grate profile moves fuel steadily toward the ash discharge end

Automated fuel feeding synchronised with grate reciprocation speed

Automated ash discharge minimises manual removal

Zoned combustion air control for complete, low-excess-air burning

Technology Advantages

Technology Advantages of the Reciprocating Grate Thermic Fluid Heater

The Reciprocating Grate Series combines ISOTEX’s 45+ years of thermal engineering expertise with grate design refined specifically for difficult biomass fuel.

Multi-Stage Grate Zoning

The defining innovation of the Series. Fuel moves through separate drying, combustion, and burnout zones on a continuously reciprocating grate, giving more complete fuel combustion than single-stage designs — and stable operation even on high-moisture or mixed biomass.

Reduced Unburnt Loss

Complete burnout on the grate before ash discharge reduces carbon-in-ash loss, improving overall thermal efficiency compared to conventional grates.

Low Maintenance Design

Accessible tube banks, standardised wear parts, and simple grate-bar replacement keep servicing time and cost low, even under continuous industrial duty.

Instrumentation & Safety

Automatic shutdown, pressure relief, flame monitoring, and thermic fluid temperature interlocks are standard across the range.
